What is Local Legend?

Local Legend is a new way to compete with your friends and neighbors on Strava segments. It’s awarded to the athlete that completes a segment the most over a rolling 90 day period, regardless of pace or speed. Those that become Local Legends will receive a crown icon next to the segment on their activity page and the segment details page. Subscribers can tap the Local Legends section to see how their efforts compare, including an overall leaderboard, a women’s leaderboard, and their local rival’s efforts. Only activities visible to “Everyone” will count towards Local Legends.

Local Legends is available to all Strava athletes, though free users will not see the full histogram leaderboard. To participate, tap the ellipsis in the upper right corner of the You tab or select Maps > Segments on your smartphone app to view eligible segments and start competing. Once you’ve left Local Legends, only your efforts on eligible segments will count again in the future. You can also opt out of the feature entirely by opening your privacy settings and choosing No One under Local Legends. Email notifications about LCL achievements can be disabled from the email settings page. Currently, Local Legends only track results for run, ride, walk, hike, and alpine/backcountry/nordic ski segments on the Strava mobile apps.
